Muslim Patrol attack and hospitalise a man in whitechapel

March 9, 2013

I’ve just been informed that the ‘Muslim Patrol’s’ are still going on in Whitechapel. A group of friends who two weeks ago were out socialising in the whitechapel area were walking home at the end of the night, when a car pulled up. They were then confronted with a group of men who accosted them for carrying alchohol in a muslim area, they were threatened with violence, and most ran, one man was caught of guard and was hospitalized because of his injuries received in an unprovoked attack by those members of the car who claimed to be members of the ‘Muslim Patrol’.

All of this occurred weeks after at least 5 members of the ‘Muslim Patrol’ were arrested and charged with criminal offences the most serious of which ‘ABH’ or Actual Bodily Harm constitutes a physical attack on a victim that leaves an injury.

Where is our mayor in all of this, it took him over 2 weeks to respond to the last attacks, and this was only published in an obscure online article on the Tower Hamlets Council Website:

Mayor Lutfur Rahman said: “I strongly condemn these incidents. I’m proud to stand with the London Muslim Centre, Inter Faith Forum and Rainbow Hamlets against the peddlers of division and intolerance.

“I understand that several people from outside the borough have been arrested and have every confidence that the police will continue to make sure residents and visitors feel safe and welcome in Tower Hamlets.

“I am proud of the community cohesion in our borough and we know that the vast majority of residents believe that people from all backgrounds should be treated with dignity and respect.”

I’m wondering now that physical attacks are being carried out whether warning signs should now be placed across the whitechapel area warning people that the carrying of alcohol or dressing in a certain way could potentially lead to you being hospitalised from being attacked.

Why again have the East London Advertiser refused to report this:

Sheer Jamaat-e-Islami aggression on UK-based Shahbag Solidarity Protesters

Bangladeshi’s across the borough gathered in support of the War Crimes trial in Bangladesh, which has seen hundreds of thousands protesting on the streets of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. They are calling for the death sentence for those accused and charged in the trial and not life imprisoment for crimes including the following:

1. Pallab Murder
2. Killing pro-liberation poet Meherunnesa, her mother and two brothers
3. Khandoker Abu Taleb Killing
4. Ghatar Char and Bhawal Khan Bari killing
5. Alubdi Mass Killing (344 people)
6. Killing and rape of Hazrat Ali and his family members.

Bangladesh: Protesters Demand Execution Of Abdul Quader Mollah

Nick Cohen in his article for the Observer on Sunday “The agonies of Bangladesh come to London” reports that

“The conflict between the Shahbag and Jamaat has already reached London. On 9 February, local supporters of the uprising demonstrated in Altab Ali Park, a rare patch of green space off the Whitechapel Road in London’s East End. They were met by Jamaatis. “They attacked our men with stones,” one of the protest’s organisers told me. “There were old people and women and children there, but they still attacked us.””

Facebook Page “Lutfur Rahman Out of Tower Hamlets” is not associated with this blog

I’ve just recently stumbled across a slightly troubling fact regarding the Facebook page “Lutfur Rahman Out of Tower Hamlets”. I first noticed the page a year ago when they had taken the mock-up of Lutfur Rahman as Mr Burns which was created personally for my blog post: “Seperated At Birth?………”

Lutfur Rahmans mock-up as Mr. Burns

and placed it as the the pages logo image. Now although at the time I felt a slight sting for not being asked for my permission, I thought well their not a paper, not selling anything, so not subsribing to facebook I did’nt really think their was any harm. Not that, that means I subscribe to, or support the purpose of the facebook page as I do beleive in freedom of speech and each to their own.

What does trouble me is the fact that today after searching google, i stumbled upon the ‘About’ page of the site “Lutfur Rahman Out of Tower Hamlets – About” I immediatley noticed their contact info refers to this blog underneath the words ‘Contact’.

I’m just setting the record straight that the facebook page in question has no affiliation to this blog, is not owned by anyone associated with this blog and is obviously not supported by it. And if the owner ever happens to be reading this blog post, could you please remove this blogs address as your contact info for your facebook page.

Early this morning Freedom bookshop on Angel Alley 84b Whitechapel High Street London E1 7QX, Britains largest and londons oldest anarchist bookshop was firebombed under suspicious circumstances according to police and the London Fire Brigade.:

Leanne Minick Tragedy: Inquest still gives no answers after 2 years and 4 months

January 23, 2013
3 Comments

As in my previous post into the tragic circumstances surrounding the death of 8 year old Leanne Minick linked here;

Leanne Minick’s Tragic Death at Sandall House – What really happened?

I once again apologise for any upset this post may cause. Its just that I keep seeing searches for “Leanne Minnick inquest” appearing in the google stats of this blog, and it got me wondering about the inquest verdict myself. This led me again to trying to find out what the outcome of the inquest that was held at Poplar Coroners Court had been. To my dismay, i find that today the inquest is still ongoing after 2 years, 4 months and 12 days since the family suffered such a horrendous tradgedy.

At the time, and still online now the Sun reported thather father “Mark Minnick” was blaming a faulty lock for the fall. Mark in that report was directly blaming Old Ford Housing Association

Also if the comments section of my earlier post is correct, the family had tried to secure what they rightly thought was a dangerous faulty locking mechanism and secure it:

Old Ford Housing wasn’t even the Landlords of Sandall House in 2004 so how can they know the child locks were in place.

Also I KNOW Leeanne’s Mother was asked to remove nailed up boards which were put in place by her father as the window was broken and Old Ford didnt bother fixing it.

OLD FORD HOUSING HAVE BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS!

Leeannes poor body still hasn’t been realeased to bury because on the investigation.

Can I add that the boards were not put up by her father but her step father. Her FATHER however many months down the line is still upset and angry surrounding his daughters death and still waiting for the inquest to take place. As expected all family members are still very upset about this tragedy and await the full results from the inquest.

Comment by Emma — February 24, 2011 @ 12:54 am

At the time the East London Advertiser front page story into this confirmed the above posters claims stating that a neighbour had informed them that Old Ford Housing Association had ordered the mother to remove the nailed up boards protecting Leanne from such a tragedy and still weeks later had not repaired the faulty locks. Their article online regarding this has since been changed to remove this statement. I would imagine and lay money on it, that Old Fords lawyers has slapped the Advertiser with some form of injunction or other legal tool to remove what they thought were damaging comments.

I fail to understand why what i’d found out about Old Ford Housing Association, the lack of planning approval in the councils planning archives for the installation of the windows, the FENSA scheme all mentioned in my previous post, all of that minor evidence, why after such a long time have the family not recieved any real answers or explanation from the official bodies involved and who are paid to look into these matters.

I’m sorry if people think i’m drudging up the past or that its none of my business, as a previous poster had accused me of, its just at the time as most of us probably felt that this tragedy had struck a chord with a lot of people. As before my deepest sympathies are with the family of Leanne, and i again apologise if any my posts have caused offense.

2 members of the “Muslim Patrol” have been arrested.

Scotland Yard responded to the original footage posted saying: “We are aware of incidents over the weekend of 12/13 January where a small group of people had harassed members of the public, and of YouTube videos showing this.

“In response to this incident officers on duty are being briefed as to what has occurred and what to be on the look out for.”

A 22-year-old man was arrested in the Acton area of west London on Sunday and a 19-year-old man was arrested after going to an east London police station on Monday.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and public order offences and have been bailed to return to an east London police station in February and March pending further inquiries.

Not too sure if this was earlier than the other videos, but again threatening behaviour like this cannot be good for our community, the video below shows the same “Muslim Patrol” verbally abusing a man, calling him a “fag”, that he’s “dirty” and telling him he must leave the area as this is a “muslim area”:

for a more indepth analysis of the video read the recently published Telegraph article on this video:

East London Mosque responds to “Muslim Patrols” enforcing sharia in Whitechapel

January 19, 2013

Since I reported on Friday morning in the post Young Men claiming to be ‘Muslim Patrol’ intimidate pedestrians in Whitechapel, the East London Mosque immediately addressed the concerns of community in both an official statement and at Friday Prayers.

In response to these videos circulating the internet last Thursday and Friday claiming to be a ‘Muslim Patrol’ which showed young men trying to enforce sharia law and intimidating people in whitechapel for drinking and dressing in a certain way and shouting at them “this is a muslim area” and “move along” and other such tactics of intimidation, the East London Mosque has showed its wisdom in quickly condemning these people actions by releasing an official statement:

Unwelcome ‘patrols’ – 17 Jan 2013

Individuals claiming to be self-styled ‘Muslim patrols’ have been harassing members of the public on the streets of east London late at night, including outside our mosque after it has closed. They have anonymously uploaded their exploits to the internet.

These actions are utterly unacceptable and clearly designed to stoke tensions and sow discord. We wholly condemn them. The East London Mosque is committed to building co-operation and harmony between all communities in this borough. The actions of this tiny minority have no place in our faith nor on our streets.

Earlier this week we contacted the Police and the local authorities to alert them to the presence of these individuals and video. We advise anyone who has been harassed by these individuals to contact the Police.

We will monitor the situation closely and our Imams will be speaking out against such actions.
http://www.eastlondonmosque.org.uk/news/390

And also at Friday prayers a message addressing this ‘Muslim Patrol’ video was given and after giving a traditional islamic introduction from the 41 second mark the rest of the sermon is in English and can be viewed below:

This Friday sermon presents an Islamic response to the so called Muslim vigilantism being carried out by a minority of Muslims who claim to be implementing a ‘shari’ah patrol’ in the London borough of Tower Hamlets.

Delivered by Shaykh Shams Ad Duha

As I read on another site and I will quote it here:

“Shaykh Shams Ad Duha is basically saying that in sharia it is impermissible for a Muslim to stop a non-Muslim drinking alcohol or eating pig meat in an Islamic country, not only that but the state has the obligation to protect the rights of non-Muslims of carrying out these things because to them they are allowed. Therefore Muslims have no right imposing their views here.”

Let us all hope that the wisdom of the mosque in quickly condemning these actions and also from the words of Shaykh Shams Ad Duha, that these so-called ‘Muslim Patrols enforcing sharia’ come to a swift end and are no longer to be seen on the streets of this borough.
